The reason we want to adopt a child with Down Syndrome

I have always wanted to adopt. It was always in the back of my mind. Ron and I have 5 children of our own who we love with everything that we have.
When I see children that need to be adopted my heart goes out to them. Seeing how fortunate our children are and how much love and acceptance they have, I want to give that to children who wouldn't have that opportunity.
I have been talking about adoption for a few years now with my husband. Usually he shrugs his shoulders and says, "In time it will happen but lets focus on now first." This is understandable because we have a 4 month old at the moment. A few months ago I asked him about adopting a child with Down Syndrome. I must say he has been much more forthcoming with this decision. He is excited about it. He still is more practical than me and knows that this won't be happening anytime soon. We need to buy a larger house and then start the process. This process can take years. I can wait. I am researching all that I can so we can be ready. I feel this is what God has called us to do. All that we are doing in life has lead us to this decision.
I have decided to start blogging our journey. This is sure to be very interesting and exciting.
I am so lucky to have a husband who is so open hearted and wanting to share our family with another child. I am so lucky to have such wonderful children. We are so lucky that we are going to get a chance to expand our family and give a child family.
So this is to you my sweet baby in waiting. You are in our thoughts now and will be in the coming years.
